In order to give you a good impression of Southern India, I would like to introduce you to the most beautiful aspects of Southern India, by telling you about the highlights of the organized trip. The trip is 13 days and 12 nights. The first part of the trip is your opportunity to meet the inhabitants, experience the culture and see all the sights. The last seven days of the trip (part 2), you will be able to completely relax at an ayurvedic resort.

Day 1
Departure from Amsterdam
Day 2
Upon arrival at the international airport of Cochin you will be greeted by our representative. They will also transfer you to your hotel.
Check-in is after 14.00h/2.00pm.
You get to choose how you want to spend this day. You can opt to relax and rest from your flight, or you can choose to explore Cochin. This day’s itinerary is to your own leisure. Cochin is a city in in the Southern Indian state of Kerela. The Fortress is the most important part of the city. The city boast impressive colonial architecture and art with Portuguese, English, and Dutch influences. This place is a great place to enjoy the local culture and become part of the local inhabitants by feeling, tasting, and experiencing.
Day 3
After breakfast, a guided city tour is on the schedule. Meet the neighboring peninsula
Mattancherry
Mattancherry is a synagogue built in 1568, which makes it the oldest Jewish synagogue in India that is still in use. The synagogue is situated in the Jewish neighborhood in Cochin. There is a small Jewish community in the city that has been in the city since the sixth century. In 1662, the Portuguese ruined the synagogue, but was rebuilt by the Dutch two years later. The synagogue has striking architectural features and antiquities with influences from all corners of the earth.
The synagogue is closed on Fridays, Saturdays, and Jewish holidays.
The Dutch palace
This palace was built by the Portuguese in 1555 and was gifted to the Raj of Kochi with the intent to improve the trade relations. The Dutch renovated the palace in 1663, which gave it its name.
The most fascinating scenes from the Ramayana are portrayed on murals.

Chinese fishing nets
The Chinese fishing nets of Kochi are big fishing nets along the coast of the port city Kochi. They were introduced by the Chines in the 14th century.
Although the concept goes back centuries, the Chinese fishing nets still function well, despite the lack of changes in their original design or operation.
The church of St. Francis
St. Francis Church is situated in Fort Kochi and was built in 1503, making it one of the oldest European churches in India, with a fascinating history. Vasco da Gama was buried there before his body was returned to Portugal.
After lunch, you leave for Munnar. Enjoy your tip there. You will be surrounded by a great number of Cardamom hills and green carpets of tea plantations. Upon arrival in Munnar, you will check into your hotel.
Overnight stay will be in the hotel in Munnar.
Day 4
Munnar is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places in India, and is a popular destination for honeymoons and recordings for the Bollywood industry. Munnar is characterized by its gorgeous landscape of hills and mountains, combined with the plethora of waterfalls. Enjoy the beautiful tea plantations, the silence that only gets disturbed by the sounds of the birds, the pure air, and the magical surroundings.
Today, you will enjoy an excursion to the exotic Eravikulam National Park. Enjoy your visit to the exotic Eravikulam National Park. This is the first national park in Karela and it attracts people from all over the world. The park is known for the rare Nilgiri Tahr mountain goat, the gorgeous hilly landscape, and the breathtaking Lakkom waterfalls. Several animal species live in the park, like leopards, Indian bison, and tigers. You can also spot a variety of bird species.
Hike through the beautiful hilly landscape and enjoy the beauty around you.

Other tourist hotspots that we will be visiting are the dairy farm, the Mattupetty dam and the old city of Munnar. Overnight stay in Munnar.
Day 5
After breakfast we will head towards Alleppey.
In Allepy you will spend the night on one of the famous house boats of Kerala, and you will be taken on a boat tour through one of the most peaceful and green environments of India. The backwaters are also known as the “Venice of the East”! Relax and enjoy the local meals prepared and served fresh on board, while you get to experience the silence of this area, that is only disturbed by the singing of rare bird species.
As soon as you check in, your lunch will be served on board while you enjoy the boating tour through the small canals and backwaters. At night, tea and snacks will be served on board. Your house boat will dock at sunset. You are free to spend this evening to your liking. You may use this opportunity to take a walk through the nearby village. If you are interested in fishing, you may also use this opportunity to utilize a traditional fishing rod of cane sugar with thread.
Day 6
After breakfast, we drive to Kovalam.
After check-in, we will schedule a timeslot for a visit with the ayurvedic doctor to advice you and to make a treatment plan.
The afternoon and evening are at your leisure.

Dag 7 t/m 13
During this last week, you will completely and fully relax in the Uday Samudra Leisure Beach Hotel & Spa, and this is also your time to recharge both mentally and physically. This is a luxurious 4-star hotel, located at the popular Kovalam beach, and only 15km/9miles away from the international airport Trivandrum. In this resort, the ayurvedic principles are applied. Ayurveda is the science of a good and healthy life. A healthy body and mind will be accomplished by taking good care of and regularly cleansing the body. Surrounded by nature, appealing beaches, palm trees, yoga, customized meals, massages, a sustainable environment, and holistic principles, the natural medicine and ayurvedic therapies will improve your health and wellbeing.
The emphasis of the wellbeing program will be on rejuvenation and de-stressing the body.
Day 14
After breakfast, one of our representatives will take you to the Trivandrum airport, from where you will be able to take your flight back to Amsterdam.
